Devadasi – A dancer’s journey from the temple to the streets
This production was written, produced, choreographed and performed by Aarti. This production takes a look at the life of a Devadasi named Deva. With English spoken dialogue, dance and music, this production shows us a glimpse into the life of Deva. As part of her MA, Aarti has subsequently written a prequel and a sequel towards the creation of a trilogy. This will be available for booking from March 2019.
She performed this work a total of 14 times in South Africa as well as once in Mauritius:
