As a new blogger, South African Indian, English teacher in Korea, recently completed my Masters Degree, performing artist, single-ton; I often find myself asking self-reflective questions – such as “What are you actually even doing?” “Where are you actually even going?” “Who are you?” And after attempting to answer, I ask, “Okay – but who are you really?”
If I endeavour to equate what I have nourished thus far in my life, I conclude that I have fed myself, my needs, my desires, my dreams and my passions. They have taken me to different ends of the earth, different edges of a spectrum and certainly to far reaching, ever-exploring and sometimes questionable life choices, I mean adventures… All in all, I think I am attempting to establish a lifestyle – one that encompasses a bit of everything that I love – and I love a lot of different things!
Online oxforddictionnaries.com describes a lifestyle as “the way in which a person lives”. In today’s day and time, there seems to be a freedom to follow one’s own truth rendering many unique lived experiences. In contrast, there is a strong “sheep mentality” whereby social influences sway weaker minds into streams of consumerism, aesthetic appeal and materialistic ideals.
According to spirituality, we should follow a path destined by inner reference, one which makes the individual’s heart truly happy – having attempted to do that for the adult part of my 32 years on this earth, I now find myself asking what I believe is a greater question – how do I serve others and the greater good of the earth via my lifestyle? How can I attempt to ordain the core beliefs my heart holds in a manner that can uplift our youth and influence my followers positively?
That brings me to here and now – in this moment, as I write this word and as you read its meaning – I want to create, to support and to love through rendering you a piece of my heart via this blog. Will it rule the world? Perhaps not, but I hope for it to rule my world.
Welcome! To this piece of me – I aim to serve, I hope to please and I endeavour to inspire.
On the brink of 2019, onwards and upwards fellow warriors!
